Hello. Another version of SQL Server is bestowed upon us at the end of 2019. Recently I installed this so here are screenshots of this SQL Server 2019 installation walkthrough. It’s nice to see the changes as the product evolves.  I wonder how much longer though a physical product will be produced. Or will the robots get us first…If only I was a betting man.

SQL Server 2019 Installation Walkthrough

Same ol same ol..

Time to stand-alone my friend…

OK, I’m going to choose Developer here as I don’t want to re-install it but you know, the product will change by release, I’m hoping! It keeps me on my toes…

I accept them license terms…

I can choose Yes on this, but this VM aint got no connection to the big bad world outside…

Told you so…

Setup Rules…

And the Feature Selection…it’s getting busy…

More work?

And to round it off…

OK so for this gig I’m just checking out the Database Engine (for now)…

And I choose these fellas…

Keep it simple here, the Default Instance…

Service Accounts and Passwords…plus the Grant Perform that’s been there a while now…

My Collation, is like my favourite secret agents (British), that’s Bond not Johnny English!

Security, Mixed Mode and the SA password, always, always, always add Current User, just in case…

OK, this is a VM and I have one drive on it; please do not follow this…

And TempDB screens, making DBAs redundant everywhere!

And MaxDOP settings, yay this is good…

And finally Memory recommendations, this will be fun I’m sure…I hope it doesn’t cause more issues…

Fortune favours the brave, went for the Recommended here, it would be nice if it said how much memory I had in the VM (I have 4096MB). It detected the number of processors okay. Why not the memory?

Filestream for those that like that sort of thing.

Ready or not, here I come!

I love it when a plan comes together…

The bottom half of success…

Don’t forget you need to download SQL Server Mangement Studio from…
