How I passed Exam 70-765 in 2 Easy Steps

This is my story of how to pass the exam 70-765 in two easy steps. As before this involves the Microsoft Exam 70-765 book and the MeasureUp Exam 70-765 practice tests but first, a small catchup…

Last November, it was time for my final exam in order to keep the Microsoft and Sequallity’s data platform competency up-to-date. I’ve enjoyed both of these last two exams…70-764 Administering a SQL Database Infrastructure and 70-765 Provisioning SQL Databases.

I did find the latter exam, 70-765 Provisioning SQL Databases very tough though and again, I must be suffering a bit of imposter syndrome as yet again at the end of the exam, I’d thought I’d failed before finding out I’d passed. I’m not entirely sure how I got 79 percent but there you go. A pass is a pass.  And with passing this exam I have now achieved the MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration.

and I am pleased and proud to have gained that. I took this exam at the end of November 2019.  I’ve been busy since though, what with the holidays and family and all there has been a lot to do.

At Sequallity, we have been affiliated with Microsoft for many years now, and again, it is with some pride Sequallity have maintained their partnership status.

I used the same method as before (Microsoft 70-765 certification book

and the 70-765 Measure Up exam). I do enjoy revising as it reminds you constantly of important old and new facts. It’s worth doing, and I shall keep on studying as I’m on a bit of a roll.

Next I would like to obtain the 70-762 exam

which means I would be certified as an MCSE in Data Management & Analytics. How cool is that? It sounds well clever.

Looking further ahead, it would be nice to then go for the two Azure Data Engineer Exams

There are currently no books available for these exams (January 2020) however I’m sure they will be released soon. The Measure Up exams are available though at

There are a couple of excellent blog posts, both of these are from the always excellent Cathrine Wilhelmsen.

Here’s my current Exam Certification Roadmap.

  • 70-762 Developing SQL Databases (to get MCSE: Data Management & Analytics)
  • DP-200 Implementing an Azure Data Solution
  • DP-201 Designing an Azure Data Solution

And then possibly

I am quite fired up at the moment. Years ago, I had the MCDBA in both SQL Server 7 and SQL Server 2000.  The certification evolved into the MCTS and the MCITP variants, which I obatined parts thereof. But now, we’re back to MCSA and MCSE I find the process really inspiring.

To pass the 70-765 exam, I read the book twice and really studied the exam questions I didn’t understand. Hopefully, these techniques which have worked on the last three Microsoft exams will help me pass the 70-762 exam.
